Welcome Pack
Welcome!
Welcome to Wakefield Athletic JFC! We’re really pleased you’re joining us! This short welcome pack will give you everything you need to get you started with the club including information about your team, how we train, where we play, and everything you need to know about the club from how we communicate, to our codes of conducts and club charter.
Trial period
First thing’s first, we don’t expect your child to sign on the dotted line straight away. Whether they’re new to football, or they’ve been playing for years, they need some time to adjust, to get a feel for the place, and get to know people, and you can’t do that in one session. For that reason, we offer a trial period of 4 weeks where your child can come down and get involved with training and get to know everyone. When you and your child are happy, you can then sign up.
Please Note: During the trial period, your child won’t be able to play in any of our matches, and once they do sign up, they will need to be registered with the football league before they can start to play league games.
Ordering your kit
When you register your child, we would also like you to complete the Kit Order Form.
As part of their registration fee, your child will be entitled to a branded match day kit, which will include sponsors and their squad number.
We will place the kit order once your child is registered, and their first payment is received.
Please Note: It can take a while for the matchday kit to arrive as they have to be printed with sponsors and player numbers.
Registering your child
When you are ready to sign your child up with the club, all you need to do is complete the Player Registration Form.
Once submitted, your information will be passed to the club secretary and treasurer who will then process the registration. The cost of registration is £180 per season and includes your child’s match kits and fees to register with the FA as well as contributing to other costs such as training facilities, equipment and match day facilities.
Payments can be made in one payment or spread over six months at £30 a month (due on the 1st of the month).
Because we rely on subscription fees to fulfil our season requirements, no refunds for subscriptions will be offered if you decide to leave the club during the season.
If you ever think you may have difficulty making a payment, please speak to your coach or the treasurer as they may be able to help
Payments
You can make payments to the club for subs, kit etc. by bank transfer. Please check the Whole Club WhatsApp group for the bank details
About Our Club
Wakefield Athletic JFC was formed in the close season in 2021 and originally comprised of just the Under 9’s team. Over the last few years, we have grown quickly and for the 25/26 season, we will field teams in U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, Under 13 and U15 age groups.
The club is run by committee who were voted in by parents of players at the club and are all parents of children currently playing in teams at the club.
Your Committee
You can find out more about the committee and your age group parents reps on our WAJFC Committee page.
How we communicate
- WhatsApp – Across the club we use WhatsApp for the majority of our communications. You should have been added to the relevant groups, but if this isn’t the case, please let one of your coaches know and we will make sure you get added in.
- Heja – The Heja app is where we schedule all of our training and matches. When new training sessions and matches are arranged, they will be placed onto the Heja app and you are asked to respond to let us know if your child will be attending or not. This helps the coaches plan sessions, and gives clarity when children are away on holiday/ unwell etc. You will be sent an invite to the app once you have been added, it can be downloaded from the app store onto any mobile device. Please check the app regularly and try to keep the information in there up to date.
- Whole Club Meetings – We also have a Whole Club meeting every other month, in which the committee will keep you informed of club progress, fundraising activity and any other news. These meetings usually take place on Teams and an invite is sent via WhatsApp prior to the meeting.
- Regular Surveys – We want to keep in touch with parents and understand their concerns and views of the club as we progress, so we plan to have quarterly surveys which we will issue via WhatsApp. These surveys are completely anonymous and give us a good opportunity to review what’s working and what isn’t so that we can continue to grow as a club and give you, as parents, a voice.
Respect
At Wakefield Athletic JFC, we want to create the right environments for our players, both on and off the pitch. Whether we’re players, coaches, officials or parents, it’s important that we all play our part in creating a fun, safe and inclusive environment.
For this reason, we follow the FA’s Respect codes of conduct. Please take some time to review the policies in the Documentation section of the swbsite
